Psychosynthesis / Integrative Psychiatry

Roberto Assagioli, the founder of Psychosynthesis / Integrative Psychiatry, describes it as being " ...a name for the conscious attempt to cooperate with the natural process of growth -- the tendency in each of us and in our world to harmonize and synthesize various aspects at ever higher levels of organization." Much of the work of Psychosynthesis / Integrative Psychiatry involves the will in integrating what are referred to as subpersonalities or ego states, characters, crystallizations of thoughts, feelings, physical attitudes, behaviors, and needs. The five steps of this integrative process are:

Recognition => Acceptance => Coordination => Integration => Synthesis
  • This is a form of personal and transpersonal (spiritual) psychotherapy, that not only brings relief to symptoms of stress, anxiety, depression, and life's challenges, but also assists in raising one's consciousness to higher realms of possibility.
